Dr. Fatih Bulut is a seismologist with over 15 years of research experience in the field of characterization of earthquakes and faults. He completed his Ph.D. at Potsdam University, in Geology and his undergraduate studies at Boğazici University, in Geophysics and at Marmara University, in Electronics.

Areas of his expertise include high-resolution earthquake location, earthquake source analysis, borehole and array seismology, fault zone head waves and ambient noise analysis. Those include also broad experience in optimization methods, signal processing and software programming. His current research focus is to investigate fracturing processes and associated stress/strain changes within the Earth’s crust at different stages of the earthquake cycle to provide insights into earthquake forecasting.

He has published over 25 science articles and 68 reseach abstracts in his fields of interest. He is currently a faculty member in Geodesy Department, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, at Boğazici University.
