Gokhan has been active in Big Data and Machine Learning scene since 2010, as an engineer, a trainer, a consultant and a researcher.
In 2013 due to his contributions, he was invited to become one of the authors of Apache Mahout, a top-level Apache Software Foundation project on scalable Machine Learning on Big Data, offered by most of the commercial data platform providers, including Hortonworks, Cloudera, MapR and Amazon Web Services.
He served as a consultant for numerous organizations in planning and implementing data driven solutions for text mining, log analysis, trend analysis, and recommender systems; and led the solution creation utilizing open source data technologies.
He delivered Big Data development, analytics and NoSQL systems training courses for Cloudera and Hortonworks in Turkey and in Europe. Later, he created a new Machine Learning and Big Data training curricula, which were delivered in Turkey and the Gulf area to trainees from different industries, mostly employed by telecommunications companies, financial institutions, e-commerce giants, and intelligence agencies.
Since 2017, Gokhan is a PhD candidate working on more theoretical aspects of probabilistic machine learning/deep learning, with a particular focus on interactive systems and applications for mining of human behavior. His research turned into a company, Persona.tech, a curated collection of cloud-native algorithms for learning from individual and social choice behavior, mostly used by advertising companies and quantitative marketing teams.
